Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure, exploring the modern city on your own. Many of our travelers find it easy to navigate independently and recommend taking a local taxi to visit Jardin Majorelle, unlike navigating the maze-like streets of the old Medina.

The Jardin Majorelle is the creation of French painter Jacques Majorelle, who spent 40 years infusing his passion and creativity into this magical garden. With charming pathways, tranquil streams, and over 300 species of stunning plants, Jardin Majorelle offers a serene escape from the bustling city.

Explore Ait Benhaddou: A UNESCO World Heritage Site

After breakfast, collect your rental car to embark on your journey towards Ait Benhaddou via the scenic Tiz-n-Tichka pass, offering breathtaking views. Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its architectural authenticity and pre-Saharan construction techniques, featured in numerous famous films. Transporting you back centuries, the mud clay village of Ait Benhaddou is a captivating glimpse into Morocco's rich history.

Upon arrival at the picturesque Ait Benhaddou around midday, savor lunch on a sunny terrace overlooking the Kasbah and its stunning surroundings. Spend the afternoon exploring the kasbah and consider venturing to nearby villages like Tamedaght.

Desert Adventure: Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Zagora - Erg Lihoudi

After breakfast, you will head to Erg Lihoudi. Passing by Draa Valley, the road will take you through beautiful landscapes filled with palm trees and old kasbahs. You can have lunch (not included) in the oasis and desert town of Zagora, stop in Tamegroute to pay a quick visit to the famous Zaouia Nassiriya, Nassiriya library famous for its 4000 ancient Koranic manuscripts and a Koran which was written on gazelle skin (Please note that the library is closed on the weekends), and Green Pottery and Pottery handcrafted with henna. Tamegroute itself is captivating with its labyrinth of narrow alleys and underground streets.

After Tamegroute, you will head to Oulad Driss where you will start your camel ride which takes you through beautiful sand dunes and onto your bivouacs in Erg Lihoudi. This pleasurable ride usually lasts about 1h30 mins. You will be able to watch the sunset in the dunes and spend a magical night in your private tent.

Desert Trek: Erg Lihoudi to N'kob

Hotel: KASBAH IMDOUKAL or equivalent (breakfast only included)

After breakfast, you will head towards N'kob. Rising before the sun, you'll witness the breathtaking sunrise before boarding your camels and continuing to the next Berber village. N'kob boasts the highest concentration of kasbahs in Morocco, nestled amidst palm trees and steeped in history. Spending the night here offers a glimpse into the enchanting Saghro region.

Upon arrival in N'kob, enjoy lunch on a terrace overlooking the palm grove and the village, with the Saghrou mountains in the distance. In the afternoon, a guided walk will take you through the tranquil traditional village of N'kob, the surrounding Henna fields, and some of its historic Kasbahs. You will spend the night in N'kob village.

From N'kob to Taroudant: Exploring Authentic Moroccan Culture

The journey from N'kob to Taroudant will take you through Tazenakht, renowned for its tapestries, and Taliouine, famous for its saffron. Taroudant, also known as 'Little Marrakech,' is strategically located between the mountains and just an hour from the coast. It provides an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in genuine Moroccan culture and its surroundings.

Upon arrival in Taroudant, enjoy lunch before having the rest of the day to explore at your leisure. Don't miss the chance to browse the renowned souqs and visit the 16th-century gates, the ramparts, the Old Kasbah quarter, and Place Al Alaouyin. You will spend the night in Taroudant.

Coastal Journey: From Taroudant to Essaouira

It's an opportunity to diversify the scenery of your trip. After breakfast, pack up and begin your drive to Essaouira. Passing through numerous villages, you'll undoubtedly enjoy the journey, especially along the Atlantic coast from Agadir. It boasts the sunniest beach in the country, so take some time to relax at one of its beachside cafes before continuing your drive. Perhaps grab some snacks for the road.

Essaouira is a picturesque coastal fishing village where you'll spend two nights. Its blue and white aesthetics reflect the influence of Berber, Arab, Jewish, French, and Portuguese cultures over the years, evident in both its architecture and lifestyle. Upon arrival, take a leisurely stroll around the Old Medina. You'll spend the night in a hotel in Essaouira.

Explore Essaouira at Your Own Pace

Essaouira is a small town easily explored on foot. On your second day, take a leisurely stroll down to the port to see the fishing boats, climb to the top of ‘La Sqala’ (one of the port bastions) for magnificent views of the port and town, wander through the alleys filled with woodwork shops, artist studios, and music stores, walk along the ramparts, and find a spot among the cannons to watch the sunset. Don't forget to allocate some time to walk along the vast windswept beach. You will spend the night in a hotel in Essaouira.

Return Journey: Essaouira to Marrakech

Hotel: RIAD SABAH or equivalent (breakfast only included)

Today, you'll return to Marrakech. Upon arrival, drop off your rental car at the local office. In the afternoon, wander through the Medina and explore the Souk for souvenirs. Many of our travelers make exciting plans for this evening! Don't miss the chance to book a dinner at one of the most authentic restaurants and celebrate your self-driving achievement. You've gone beyond the obvious and made it to the city of your start with plenty of memories and special experiences to share when you return home.
